♦ Salisbury Police sources report a running gun battle between two groups of young men in the back lot of Marco’s Pizzeria on the 400 block of East Fisher at 6:30 p.m. The gunfight spread to the area by the intersection of E. Innes and South Long. A juvenile sustained a leg wound inside a home at the intersection. The two groups dispersed after a exchange of gunfire and the Salisbury Police and Rowan Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived in numbers followed by a Fire Department vehicle.
The injured juevenile was taken to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. It was believed the wounded juvenile was not an intended target, but was hit by a stray bullet. His wound was not life threatening.
The police took another juvenile into custody after they chased him and he threw down his gun.

A second shooting took place at around 7:30 p.m. much further away on the 1700 block of North Long Street. According to police sources two vehicles sped down the street and male passenger in a maroon car shot into the other as it pulled into a driveway. The damaged car revealed a bullet hole in the rear window.
