♦ Two days ago we heard a report that the remains of Erica Lynn Parsons,13, missing since November 2011, were found Tuesday in Chesterfield County, S.C.  Thursday afternoon reliable sources in the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the remains were found. The skeletal remains were located in a makeshift grave on a rural property off Moore Road between Pageland and Mt. Croghan in “red clay” Chesterfield County. Sandy Parsons, the adoptive father of Erica Parsons, led investigators to the remains allegedly to get a better deal. The property is alleged to belong to a family member of Sandy Parsons.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office along with FBI and the SBI obtained leads this August that Erica Parsons was deceased. On September 27th the remains were found and sent to the NC Medical Examiner’s Office in Raleigh where they were positively identified as Erica Parsons. How Erica died was not disclosed.

Erica was last seen in November of 2011.  Her adoptive family failed to report her missing until July of 2013. Jamie Parsons, the adoptive brother of Erica, reported her missing to the Sheriff’s Office in Rowan County.

Sheriff Kevin Auten, of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, will hold a press conference next week answering many unanswered questions about the late Erica Parsons.

Sheriff Kevin L. Auten:

Erica’s adoptive parents, Casey and Sandy Parsons are in federal prison on fraud charges for obtaining federal benefits for adoption assistance while Erica was missing. Sandy Parsons is currently being held at the Federal Medical Center Butner in Butner, N.C. and is scheduled for release in March 2022. Casey Parsons is presently serving time in the Federal Correctional Center Tallahassee in Tallahassee, Fla. She is scheduled for release in January 2024. Casey and Sandy Parsons future in prison will likely change due to the locating of their adoptive daughter’s remains.

The case remains under intensive investigation.
