Salisbury: Altereck Rashad Shields Arrested Tuesday Night on North Church and W. 11th Streets Allegedly for Cocaine and Resisting an Officer

♦ According to Salisbury Police sources officers stopped a car Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. on North Church Street near the intersection of W. 11th Street when a passenger got out and ran. The fleeing man was soon overtaken on 11th Street and identified as Altereck Rashad Shields, a much convicted felon living at 1005 S. Church Street in Salisbury. Shields was handcuffed and brought back to the car where officers conducted a search and found a Crown Royal bag beneath the passenger seat. The bag contained 10 grams of cocaine, $40, and a digital scale. Later officers discovered through a records search that Shields was an absconder with several outstanding warrants for probation violations against his name with the Thomasville Police Department.

Shields was charged with resist/delay/obstruct public officer (misdemeanor), possessing stolen goods (felony), weapons possession by felon of firearms etc. prohibited (felony), traffic in cocaine (felony), trafficking heroin or opium (felony), possession of controlled substance with intent to manufacture schedule II (felony), Possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver a control substance schedule II (felony), possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor), and probation violation (felony).

Under a secured $200,000 bond, he is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center.
