♦ Dalton Smallwood, 43, who was living at 180 Freeze Crossing Drive in Rowan County and moved back to Georgia, was arrested Wednesday night by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office for alleged sex crimes with children.
Smallwood was charged with 5 counts of indecent liberties with children (felony), 5 counts of statutory rape/sex offense with a 13/14/15 year-old by a defendant 6 years older (felony), first degree sexual exploitation–use/employ of a minor (felony), and third degree sexual exploitation of a minor (felony). Under a secured $300,000 bond, he is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center. More charges may be pending from Iredell county.
According to Sheriff Office sources Smallwood was involved with the alleged 15 year-old victim back in 2011 when Smallwood was 36. He met the minor at church when both he and girl lived in southern Rowan. Sources allege Smallwood and the girl had sexual relations several times at her home, his home, and at other locations. In two cases Smallwood allegedly made videos of the two depicting sex acts.
On June 30th of this year the girl, now an adult, told her father about the alleged relationship with Smallwood. The father then contacted the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
