♦ According to Salisbury Police sources an armed robbery took place at the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 640 W. Jake Alexander Boulevard in Salisbury, N.C. The alleged robber Willie Junior McClean AKA “Poochie”,55, of Ridge Avenue in Salisbury, pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money after walking to the front counter with a bottle men’s body wash. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken. McClean fled from the store. The robbery was reported at 9:43 p.m. The clerk’s description helped identify the robber.
McLean was arrested for the alleged robbery a short time later by the Salisbury Police. He was found walking on the 800 block of Lincolnton Road several blocks from Rite Aid. He ran and tried to climb a fence in an attempt to resist arrest. In very short order he was soon subdued, handcuffed, and placed into a police vehicle. Officers recovered the money they saw McLean toss over a wooden fence. They also recovered the pistol allegedly employed in the robbery.
Willie Junior McLean:
McLean was charged with robbery with firearms or other dangerous weapons (felony) and resist/delay/obstruct a public officer (misdemeanor). Under a $55,000 secured bond, McLean is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center.
No one was injured during the robbery.
