♦Cracker Barrel reversed its decision to send back “Duck Dynasty” Items. “Today, we are putting all our Duck Dynasty products back in our stores,” Cracker Barrel announced. “And we apologize for offending you.”
Monday evening the Rowan Free Press paid a visit on the Charlotte area Cracker Barrel and found a full display of Duck Dynasty items for sale. According to one Cracker Barrel employee standing outside the store and speaking in anonymity: “Their products (Duck Dynasty) are our fastest moving items. The public was up in arms about our company pulling Duck Dynasty product and so were local managers across the country. It seemed unbelievable the company would consider such an act. Cracker Barrel is God, Home, and Country–we’re All American. Phil is entitled to his opinion. America is all about free speech. The American public would not stand for this.”
Locally Jonathan Morris told the RFP: “I don’t know what the Cracker Barrel brass was thinking. The company must’ve busted their yo-yo string when they even thought of pulling Duck Dynasty stuff from their shelves. If they continued their foolhardiness, they might as well have carted off their tables, chairs, and waitresses. The American public would not have stood for it. Cracker Barrel is Southern-based. They know what side their cornbread is buttered on. Glad they thought about how stupid a move it was and yanked it back.”
The Editor of the Rowan Free Press celebrated the victory for first amendment rights by dining on Cracker Barrel “Maine Wild Blueberry Pancakes” with his daughter just arrived from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The Cracker Barrel public message: “Dear Cracker Barrel Customer: When we made the decision to remove and evaluate certain Duck Dynasty items, we offended many of our loyal customers. Our intent was to avoid offending, but that’s just what we’ve done. You told us we made a mistake. And, you weren’t shy about it. You wrote, you called and you took to social media to express your thoughts and feelings. You flat out told us we were wrong. We listened. Today, we are putting all our Duck Dynasty products back in our stores. And, we apologize for offending you. We respect all individuals right to express their beliefs. We certainly did not mean to have anyone think different. We sincerely hope you will continue to be part of our Cracker Barrel family.”
