♦ A fire was reported prior to 7 a.m. at the Apple Baking Company on 380 Apple Road in Salisbury. According to firefighters on the scene the fire likely broke out in a shed next to the bakery or in a dumpster.
When the first firefighters arrived on the scene saw flames and smoke issuing from the rear of the bakery. The fire may have started well before the first responding companies showed up.

After the fire was brought under control, investigators are inspecting the rear loading dock area. At this time the fire’s cause remains under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
On the scene were the Rowan County Rescue Squad, Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department, Woodleaf Volunteer Fire Department, Cleveland Fire Department, Locke Township Volunteer Fire Department, Duke Energy, Rowan County Emergency Services, Lake Norman Fire Equipment Company, Ellis Cross Country Fire Department, Cooleemee Volunteer Fire Department, and the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
