♦ A man, identified as Johnny Lee Leonard, 52, of W. Franklin Street in Salisbury, was found bloodied from multiple gunshot wounds walking by 1887 Old Union Church Road in Spencer, N.C. Several drivers spotted Leonard wearing a blood soaked flannel shirt and no pants and called 911 about 8:22 a.m. Rowan County Sheriff’s Office deputies and the Rowan County EMS personnel arrived on the scene and communicated as best they could with Leonard. Leonard informed the deputies he met a man near the Food Lion in Spencer on Monday night. Leonard was robbed of both his wallet and his 2006 green Subaru Legacy.

Victim Johnny Lee Leonard:
EMS transported to Leonard to an area hospital before he was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. His condition is not yet known.
The 2006 Subaru Legacy was entered into a nationwide database for stolen vehicles. The Suburu Legacy has a damaged rear bumper and its N.C. tag is DJV-2253.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office has a person of interest in this case.
