♦ At approximately 5:45 p.m. today a car was seen speeding away from the Salisbury Square after reportedly leaving behind a large free standing sign on the sidewalk proclaiming “Suspend No-knock! Hear our cries! We matter! A man was killed! and Wake up city council! We are unsure how long it remained in the light of city hall’s war on signage.
It would appear to the casual observer that Salisbury’s Black and social justice community is not satisfied at all with council’s decision to seek an opinion from the NC Attorney General and wash their hands of this issue, particularly after apparent false information was spread by city news releases, news conference, and its illfated “Rumor Control Page.”
Meetings continue and might actually lead to large numbers of Black citizens voting in this off-year election for city council. With over 50% of Salisbury’s population now being “non-Caucasian” could this be the year that citizens take council back from Salisbury’s wealthy special interest Families? We certainly hope so.
P.S. Don’t forget that Salisbury’s City Council meets today at 5 p.m. and Public Commentary happens around 6 p.m.

Clown Sign II – The Final Frontier?
♦ Todd Paris, Staff Writer and Salisbury Attorney
Following up on our last article regarding the survey for County Commission Chair Greg Edd’s Clown Sign being added to the consent agenda, Commissioner Craig Pierce did arise from the end of the dais to remove this matter from the consent agenda and subject it to debate at Monday’s county commission meeting. Apparently spending around five thousand dollars in tax money on this project that Edds claimed would be paid for by private donations is alleged to be necessary to “send it out for a bid.” There is still no donated money in escrow or commitment letters from unnamed “donors.”
Word has it that the new revised “Clown Sign II” is even larger and more expensive than “Clown Sign I”, as originally envisioned by our present chairman. Perhaps it will be observable from low earth orbit and even aliens will say, “Holy cow, who are these people.”
Judy Klusman’s contribution to the debate was to question what the “big deal” was. The “big deal”, Judy, is that Greg’s clown signs were supposed to be paid for by private donations are now being paid for by tax dollars and there are zero donations. Maybe Judy should just stay home from now on and let Edds “vote her proxy”. At least reduce the load on the Cohen Building’s HVAC system.
