♦ According to sources in the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office the murder cases for Both Jai Montreal Winchester, 21, living at 1607 Lakewood Drive in Salisbury and Jahari Shaheed Rustin, 20, living at 1935 W. Jake Alexander Blvd. were dismissed by the Rowan County District Attorney’s Office. It said the two men shot the late Mr. Rumple in self-defense.
The RFP learned that Winchester and Rustin face new charges and large bonds mostly concerning firearms and drug paraphernalia.
Winchester is now charged with alter/destroy/remove ID marks–personal property (felony) carrying concealed weapons (misdemeanor), and possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor). Under a secured $200,000 bond Winchester remains in the Rowan County Detention Center.
Rustin is charged now with carry a concealed gun (misdemeanor), weapon violation–all other (misdemeanor), possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor). Under a secured $150,000 bond, Rustin remains in the Rowan County Detention Center.
