♦ According to Salisbury Police sources a home invasion took place at 1805 Woodbridge Drive in Salisbury. There Susan Tovar, 32, huddled fearfully with her three children 2, 9, and 11 upstairs as she heard two strangers downstairs who just broke into her home. Maintaining a presence of mind, she called 911 and reported strangers were downstairs at 10:35 p.m. Ms. Tovar remained on the phone until she heard police patrol cars swarming into her Corbin Acres neighborhood.
In short order the officers knocked on the door, announced their presence, and demanded the intruders come out with their hands up. They heard someone on the first floor. Shortly they spotted a man, later identified as Myron Sanders, 18, of Long Branch Road in Salisbury, run out of the house and sprint toward nearby Askin Lane. Soon officers caught up with Sanders in a wooded area. A 2nd suspect, who was upstairs during the time of the break-in, ran out of the home while the officers were pursuing Sanders. Yet to be identified by Police, this 2nd suspect is still at large and believed to be Salisbury.
Myron Sanders:
Myron Sanders was charged with resist/delay/obstruct a public officer (misdemeanor), burglary 1st degree (felony), and possessing stolen goods (felony). Under a secured $100,000 bond, Sanders is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center.
The two suspects stole a PS4 Playstation game console, an iPAD, a backpack, a netbook, a Michael Kors purse, $25 (found on Sander’s person), and a wallet. All the items, except the cash, were recovered from shrubbery at a neighbor’s home. The value of the stolen items was yet to be assessed at the time of this report. The door, employed to gain entry, was badly damaged. It’s value was estimated at $400. A white carpet, which had red clay tracked onto it from the backyard, had its damage set at $2,000.
The home on Woodbridge Drive was chosen for the burglary–forcible entry because it looked as if no one was at home. Apparently the 2 suspects had knocked on another door in the neighborhood and provided a fictitious name to the occupants. The two moved on.
Three young persons, riding in the suspects’ vehicle, cooperated with the police and claimed they had no idea what the suspects were doing. They were not charged.
