The Exchange of Emails Between the Post and Kathryn Pringle Jolly Prior to the “10 to Watch” Story

♦Yesterday Kathryn Pringle Jolly, Director of Environmental Management for Rowan County, was the point of a personal attack from the Salisbury Post when the Post listed her as the one of its “10 to Watch” and attempted to embarass her for doing her job where she is required by ethics to report on contaminated properties.  It so happened that 329 S. Main fell into that category with its undeniable groundwater contamination.  Now it appears 329 S. Main lost out in the race for the Rowan-Salisbury School Systems consolidated Central Office.  504 N. Main appears to be the odds on favorite to become the site of the Central Office.  It carries none of 329 S. Main’s baggage.

To our RFP staff, people like Kathryn Pringle Jolly are true heroes for doing their job. The same goes for the many City of Salisbury employees who dare to speak out and face the consequences of firings and vendetta.

Here is an email exchange between the Salisbury Post’s Nathan Hardin and Kathryn Pringle Jolly.  “Light Hearted” questions somehow transformed into an attempt to personally embarrass in the Post’s “10 to Watch” article on Kathryn Pringle Jolly:

—–Original Message—– From: Nathan Hardin [mailto:nhardin@salisburypost.com] Sent: Fri 1/3/2014 11:33 AM To: Jolly, Kathryn P. Subject: Post 10-to-watch Kathryn,

Happy New Year! The Post is doing its 10-to-watch series this year – where we give brief descriptions of prominent folks in the community that people should keep an eye on – and the Post editorial board chose you as one of the 10. Do you have a minute to talk? The questions are pretty light-hearted.

Thanks again, – Nathan

Nathan,

Although, I am flattered, I am declining the offer. Best wishes to you and your family for a Happy New Year.
