Salisbury: Cars Vandalized Early Saturday Morning on W. Liberty St. // Vandals Break Window at the Big V Barber Shop Sunday on MLK, Jr.

♦ Hurling rocks and cement blocks through front windows, graffiti and gang tagging, beating on cars with hammers or running a screwdriver over a vehicle’s paint job, and dousing buildings, cars, and homes with paint are daily events in Salisbury.  Vandalism is as common at night as the city’s ambient background of gunfire.  Vandalism adds to the high cost of living and doing business in Salisbury.

Salisbury Police sources report that Michelle Bailey, 48, Russell Stevens, 64, Damien Mason, 38, Shirley Vinson, 61, and Aretta Matthews, 37, all residents of Salisbury except Matthews who is from Mooresville, were victims of vandalism on the street by 625 W. Liberty Street when their vehicles were attacked with a blunt object on Saturday morning.  The crimes were reported to 911 at 5:23 a.m.  Vehicles damaged were a Volvo Xc60, a Mercedes M1320 SUV, a KIA Optima Lx, a Mitsubishi Outlander SUV, and a Subaru Forester SUV.

Specific damages: Volvo hood and fender valued at $500, Subaru mirror valued at $150, Mercedes trunk valued at $250, Kia door and mirror valued at $300, Mitsubishi fender and door valued at $500.

♦ Salisbury Police sources report that Big V Barber Shop at 721 S. Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue was a victim of vandalism on Sunday morning. A call to 911 dispatch occurred at 9:30 a.m. One of Big V Barber Shop’s front windows was smashed by an unknown object. Damage to the window was estimated at $200.
