♦ According to neighbors and sources in the Salisbury Police Department Myron Levonte Riley, 17, of Salisbury was shot in the back today during an escalating backyard argument between several young men in the 100 block of Ridge Avenue near S. Fulton Street. Riley ran to the Mean Mug Coffee Shop at 1024 S. Fulton by the “Shut up and Dye” Hair Salon where he sought help. According to neighbors Riley said: “Call 911! Call 911! Lock the Door!” The owner of the Mean Mug recognized Riley as a sometime customer and sought emergency help for him. A 911 call went out earlier at 12:46 p.m. in reference to shots fired in the area.
Riley was transported to Novant Rowan Regional Medical Center then transferred by EMS to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem for further treatment.
Soon Salisbury Police poured into the area. Nearby a daycare, Salisbury High School, and Livingstone College were placed on precautionary Code Yellow Lockdown due to police activity in the Fulton Heights.
The case remains under intense investigation.
