Location 420 Neel Road, Salisbury, N.C.:
On Tuesday Rowan County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to 420 Neel Road after a 911 dispatch came in at 4:40 P.M. that an assault on a woman was in progress. Sydney Shultz-Walker, 21, made the call, telling the dispatcher the assailant fled in a white Dodge Challenger toward Mooresville Road.
Maratha allegedly drove Cody Ryan Fox, 21, to a convenience store on Jake Alexander Blvd. to buy a pack of cigarettes. When the two returned to the Neel Road home, Maratha allegedly grabbed Fox’s wallet in an attempt to steal it and the two fought. Sydney Shultz-Walker tried to intercede. Mahatha allegedly punched the woman in her head, then hoisting high he body-slammed her to the ground. While she was down, he allegedly kicked her in the back and her stomach.
As the beating subsided, Mahatha drew a semi-automatic pistol from his holster and pointed at Fox.
Later, after being pursued by Sheriff’s deputies and the Salisbury Police, Mahatha bolted from his car and was chased down in a short foot race. On his arrest, Mahatha no longer had his gun. Handcuffed, taken into custody, he took the long ride back to Salisbury to be processed.
