♦ Lamichael Donnell Feamster, 25, Salisbury parole absconder and convicted felon living at 331 Pearl Street in Salisbury, allegedly embroiled in an early Friday morning hostage standoff with the E. Spencer Police under Chief Sharon Hovis, supported by deputies from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team and the Spencer Police. The standoff took place at the Grant Street Apartments in the 200 block of Grant Street by Weant Street in E. Spencer. The E. Spencer Police were called to the complex at 6:13 a.m. The hostage situation allegedly grew out of Feamster showing up at the apartment of Carolyn Hoffner, the pregnant mother of 3 of Feamster’s children and turned into escalating verbal and physical fracas.
Allegedly Feamster arrived at the apartment, where he is not supposed to be, under the influence of alcohol and drugs. He was allegedly toting a handgun, not permitted for a convicted felon. He was said to worsen his situation by refusing to allow Hoffner to leave with her youngsters. She asked her brother, who was staying at the apartment, to assist her in getting her children, a 3-year old and a 9-year old, out safely. Feamster, growing belligerent, allegedly held a gun on his hostages and refused them safe passage out.
Eventually law enforcement talked Feamster down before he let the brother out along with the children. After almost an hour Feamster walked out and surrendered. Padded down, he was handcuffed and soon on his way to the Rowan County magistrate’s office in Salisbury for processing. No injuries were reported.
Lamichael Donnell Feamster:
Feamster was charged with 3 counts of non-support child (misdemeanor), assault on a female (misdemeanor), and Kidnapping (2nd degree) (felony). Other charges may be pending. Under a secured $2,315 bond, Feamster is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center.
