♦ Arresting 3 persons on drug charges in Salisbury, during the city’s seismic heroin, meth, crack, and opioid epidemic, is akin to picking 3 beans out of an overflowing bushel basket. Unless a dope dealer is hopelessly broke, he or she will be right back on the street again after posting bond. Like initiatives for reducing gang life, drug peddling can’t be solved by “arresting it away”. Like gangs and poverty, dope dealing is a challenge requiring multiple solutions often working in unison and a willingness for the individuals to alter their life courses.
Salisbury Police sources reported last Wednesday, April 5th that Kenneth Derrell “Dutch” Lark, 35, on the Salisbury Police’s MOST WANTED LIST and living at 204 Ferndale Drive in Salisbury, was arrested after his black Toyota Tundra was stopped by the Salisbury Police on Institute Street near West Bank Street and was searched. Lark made an initial move to leave his vehicle and attempt to flee officers, but was quickly arrested, handcuffed, and placed in custody.
Kenneth Derrell “Dutch” Lark:
Lark was charged with no operators license (misdemeanor), resist/delay/obstruct a public officer (misdemeanor), and possess with intent to manufacture/sell/distribute controlled substance II (felony).
Under a secured $5,000 bond, Lark has since bonded out of the Rowan County Detention Center.

♦ According to Salisbury Police sources, officers raided an alleged drug house at 320 E. Cemetery at 1:50 p.m. after persons alerted police that drug dealing was allegedly occurring there on a regular basis. Monday officers knocked at the door with search warrants and soon arrested Michael Duren Faulk, 43, of 520 E. Cemetery Street and Latrisha Ann Long, 34, of 425 Mimosa Street, Cleveland, N.C. A search through the house turned up 2 grams of crack, 3.7 grams of marijuana found on Long’s person, a 6.1 grams of crack found on the refrigerator, $122 in cash, and a digital scale.

Faulk was charged with possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver control substance schedule II (felony), maintain dwelling/vehicle for controlled substance (felony), simple possession of controlled substance (misdemeanor)), and possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor).
Under a secured $10,000 bond, he has since bonded out of the Rowan County Detention Center.

Long was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture schedule II (felony), possession of controlled substance Schedule VI (misdemeanor), maintain dwelling/vehicle for controlled substance (misdemeanor), and possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor).
Under a secured $10,000 bond, Long has since bonded out of the Rowan County Detention Center.
