♦ According to Salisbury Police sources Auto Works, at 429 S. Main Street, was the victim of larceny–from building on Thursday. Reports say that a stranger walked into the business and stole an F&M money bag from the office containing $2,148 in cash. Apparently no one saw the thief, only that the money bag was missing. The crime was reported at 1:52 p.m. to 911 dispatch.
At this time no suspects have been named.

♦ Salisbury Police sources report that early Friday morning Aaron’s a rental store at 2141 Statesville Boulevard was the victim of a burglary–attempted forcible entry. The crime in the making was reported by an alert citizen to 911 dispatch at 12:28 a.m. The citizen alleged seeing two persons about to break into Aaron’s and the license plate on their van was obscured with a t-shirt.
The police arrived within minutes of getting the dispatch and found a man and a woman sitting in a white compact van. The two were soon identified as Nicole Louise Coursey, 30, a felon living on W. Horah Street and Benjamin “Shane” Hawthorne, 51, a felon and registered sex offender living on W. Horah Street in Salisbury.

Officers during their search of the van and the two suspects found Cousey with a pry bar, flashlight, and gloves on the vehicle’s floorboard. These items were regarded as burglary tools. The two were promptly arrested, handcuffed, and taken into custody.

Coursey has numerous pending cases involving breaking and entering and habitual felon in Rowan, Iredell, Davie, and Davidson County.
Coursey was charged Friday morning with larceny (misdemeanor), breaking and entering–preparation to commit burglary (felony), and habitual felon (felony). Under a secured $32,500 bond, she is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center.

Hawthorne was charged with breaking and entering–preparation to commit burglary (felony). Under a secured $10,000 bond, he is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center.
