♦ According to Salisbury Police sources Juan Jeneiro Mortimer, 23, of 7303 Grandeur Avenue in Salisbury, was the victim of assault–gun at 338 Mahaley Avenue in the Westview Court Apartments near Parkview Circle on Tuesday night. The shooting was reported to 911 dispatch at 10:54 p.m. Mortimer was found between two apartment buildings, sprawled on the ground and bleeding profusely. Mortimer is reported in critical, but stable condition from a gunshot wound to the stomach.

Mortimer traveled to Mahaley Avenue to meet up with friends. When he stepped outside the apartment, he was confronted by an unknown suspect who pistol whipped him in the face and head then shot him in the stomach at point blank range. Area residents reported hearing a single shot.
Mortimer was transported to Novant Rowan Medical Center for treatment and later was transferred by helicopter to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem for emergency treatment.
At this time Salisbury Police investigators have yet to speak with Mortimer at the hospital so they do not know the motives for the shooting or who shot him.
