♦ Salisbury Police Department sources report that the Subway restaurant at 1317 Klumac Road in Wallace Commons was the victim of burglary–forcible entry on Wednesday. The burglars using a rock or brick smashed through the front door glass and let themselves inside after disabling the alarm. Working quickly, they grabbed a safe (valued at $180) and $1,026 in cash before leaving through the front door and disappearing into the early morning darkness. The door damage was assessed at $350.
The burglary wasn’t discovered until 6:13 a.m. when Christopher Hicks an employee showed up and saw the damage. He immediately alerted 911 dispatch.
Within the last two weeks, Los Arcos, a Mexican Restaurant and Subway’s immediate neighbor, was burglarized in the same fashion as Subway.
Wallace Commons suffers from visits from shoplifting gangs as do many other big box retail areas in a city under criminal siege.
