♦ Crime never has a day off in the hard scrabble city of Salisbury, N.C.  The newest talk of the town in the 9th ranked most dangerous city in North Carolina is the current streak of plate glass windows being blasted out by high-powered gas propelled pellets in a rash of drive-by vandalism encompassing both Salisbury and Rowan County.

Has “rocking” become outmoded overnight by high-tech pellet guns?  What drug or alcohol addled vandal fails to appreciate the slow-motion end over end tumble of a rock or chunk of cinderblock hurtling through the dimly lit night before it sends shards of plate-glass in all directions?  Has window breaking given way to fast and furious for a few cheap headlines in the Rowan Free Press?

According to Salisbury Police sources VooDoo Tattoo Ink at 211 E. Innes, the city’s leading proponent of “skin art”, was the victim of miscellaneous property damage when someone shattered the tattoo parlor’s front window with a drive by high-velocity pellet.  The crime was reported to 911 dispatch at 3:22 p.m.  Damage was assessed at $200.

At this time it is not known if this drive-by window vandalism is connected to the rash of window destroying attacks on Pottery 101 in Salisbury, Russell’s Unique Deals in Rockwell, and other businesses and vehicles in both Salisbury and Rowan County since last Wednesday.  We hope everyone is covered by insurance for these often very costly multi-paned windows.

This crime remains under investigation. As yet no suspects have been named.

Citizens having any knowledge about this crime are urged to call the Salisbury Police at 704-638-5333. If you fear retribution, want to remain anonymous and possibly collect a reward of up to $1,000, information can be submitted 24/7 via the web: http://tips.salisburyrowancrimestoppers.org/ or by calling the Salisbury-Rowan Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
