♦ According to Salisbury Police sources Lucas Daniel Collie, 20, of 3826 Regent Street in Durham, N.C. and a former student and lacrosse player at Catawba College, was arrested Wednesday by the Salisbury Police and charged with breaking and entering–building (felony) and larceny in violation of Gs 14-51, 53, 54, 54.1, 57 (felony). Under a secured $1,000 bond, Collie was held in the Rowan County Detention Center until he was released on bail.
The alleged burglary and larceny occurred back on May 11th when Collie allegedly obtained keys in Catawba campus parking area and used them to gain entry into a administrative building. There he entered the student affairs office and allegedly stole $270, intended for a fundraiser, from a drawer. Collie was identified from a campus surveillance video.
On Collie’s surrender to the police, the former student athlete returned the stolen funds.
