And a big Amen to that! Though sadly, if you have to travel through the emerald city, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to realize that the entire traffic system is designed to slow, hinder, delay and outright stall traffic in every direction. If you notice, you are always at a disadvantage with the traffic lights no matter which way you go. The lights will unnecessarily hold cars back just so they can wait and stop cars going in the other directions. There is no smooth flow of traffic in Salisbury. It has been designed this way. I can think of no other town where the traffic lights are so screwed up. Just that one intersection at Jake Alexander and Julian Rd, has created enough cuss words to fill a book.
Several years ago, they even admitted that. They wanted cars to wait at stoplights uptown so the drivers would look around while waiting at the lights and possibly see something they may want to buy. This is a disgusting form of theft. It robs people of their time. And there is no way you can know how much of our valuable time they have caused us all to waste. At least, lately, they are doing away with many of the lights in favor of 4 way stops. They are funny because at many of the now, 4 way stops, you can turn right after you stop where before, even at the exact same intersections, you had “no turn on red” signs. They made you wait.
