Police sources inform us that the three teenagers found Macphee a homeless man sleeping in the Cannon Park Gazebo at 611 Park Avenue and allegedly one of the young men planned to beat the victim while the others made a video of the activity for social media. Plans went South when the victim shoved one his attackers out of his way and took off running. Sanders allegedly attempted to shoot the fleeing man, but the .380 handgun failed to fire on the first trigger squeeze.

The victim took refuge behind a tree when Sanders fired a second time, hitting the tree. Right away the three teenagers took off in the direction of Martin LutherKing, Jr. Avenue and the Macphee called 911 dispatch at 3:36 a.m. The Salisbury Police poured into the area, but the wannabe videographers were already on their way to Panera Bread at 825 East Innes. Officers soon located the three, handcuffed them, and took them into custody. The .380 handgun was tossed in the shrubbery at Panera Bread where it was recovered by alert officers.
