♦ According to Salisbury Police sources Jamal Aaron West, 18, of 483 Jackson Road, Salisbury was shot Monday night at the Laurel Pointe Apartment complex on 205 Laurel Pointe Circle in Salisbury. The shooting took place during an argument between a group of young persons in the parking lot. Multiple shots were reported fired before the group dispersed. The shooting was reported to 911 dispatch at 6:37 p.m. West was on the ground with reported internal injuries. Persons at the scene said the young man suffered a head wound, but that has not been confirmed by law enforcement.
Police sources are saying West’s injuries are not considered life threatening.
The young man was first transported to Novant Health Rowan Regional Medical Center for treatment in a private vehicle, then transported by helicopter to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem for surgery. His condition has not yet been released.
During their investigation of the parking lot crime scene Salisbury Police investigators found 2 bullet fragments, and 2 shell casings from a .380-caliber handgun and a .40-caliber handgun. 3 articles of clothing were seized. A black Honda Accord in the parking lot was damaged by bullets.
