♦ The Justice in Salisbury event was a success Tuesday night. 30-40 concerned citizens came out to the Mission House Church to share concerns, talk with Council Members, and create an action plan to present to City Leaders.
Although the City Manager sent a message that City Leaders would not attend, Mayor Pro Tem Maggie Blackwell, Councilman David Post and I sat on a panel and answered citizen questions for nearly two hours.
Attendees shared concerns about the SBI Report, the no-knock tactic, and the recent letter sent out by the Mayor that led to a series of poorly attended secret meetings with Black pastors. The attendees were critical of the message and felt like her words were disrespectful, dangerous, and divisive.
The attendees came up with a series of written information requests to present to the City Manager for a response.
