♦ Rowan County Sheriff’s Office sources report the Dollar General at 5150 U.S. Hwy 601 in Salisbury, N.C. was held up at gunpoint Tuesday night by two masked Black men brandishing semi-automatic pistols. The robbery occurred prior to closing at 10 p.m. when the two men entered the store and confronted the store’s two clerks. One of the robbers grabbed a female clerk and slammed her into a display rack, dropping her to the floor. The other bandit demanded money from the cash register and safe. They directed an employee into the office where the robber snatched a cash box and had the safe opened for him.
The robbers worked swiftly, filling their backpacks with an undisclosed amount of cash before they hustled out the front door and took off toward Cauble Road.
Rowan County Sheriff’s office deputies answering the 911 dispatch drove into Dollar General lot where they looked for the two gunmen.
One robber was described at light skinned Black male, sporting a red hoodie and a costume mask with gray hair attached. He was attired in faded blue jeans, black laced red tennis shoes, light green backpack with blue lines. He carried a black semi-automatic pistol.
The 2nd robber was described as a Black male, wearing a black hoodie and a black mask over the lower part of his face. The hoodie had white sports stripes from the armpits to his waist. He wore a black Adidas sweat pants with 4 stripes down the sides of each leg. His footwear was black socks and flip-flops. He also carried a black semi-automatic pistol.
The female clerk sustained undisclosed injuries and was transported to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.
A Sheriff’s Office K-9 was brought to the scene and tracked the robbers from the store to Old Wood Lane where the dog lost the scent likely due to the robbers getting into a vehicle.
