♦ The Salisbury Post fights for air with a dwindling subscribership, the costly millstone of an outdated print paper in the digital age, and being the laky newsletter of a city hall answering only to a greedy and controlling few. The alleged newspaper is a mirror of a city overwhelmed by immense crime and diminished city services. The paper’s poorly paid workers do the work of three. It is no small wonder some of its employees are taking to looting their employer. Is it anger at being abused for a low wage or is it just trying to make ends meet in hard scrabble Salisbury?
In the last 5 years or so many newsroom employees have left the sinking vessel to take jobs elsewhere. The dream of being a journalist got jettisoned for being a grant writer for a mom n’ pop non-profit or writing PR for a community college in nowheresville to keep the lights on. The end result is fielding mostly kids with no life experience and no political acumen who regurgitate press releases from city hall.
Salisbury Police sources reported on Wednesday The Salisbury Post, 131 W. Innes Street, was the victim of an embezzlement. A call was made to 911 dispatch at 1:19 p.m. The embezzler helped themselves to a miscellaneous (all other) valued at $600. (Is the Post ashamed of what was stolen?) The suspect allegedly drove a 1992 Blue Dodge D 200.
At this time the police have yet to name a suspect in the case.
