♦ This morning it came to our attention that several misinformed persons or persons who know our crime reports are true, but the reports go against their short-sighted and self-absorbed agenda of hiding the reality of Salisbury’s major violent and property crime. Hiding or minimizing Salisbury’s violent and property crime serves to create a false sense of safety about living in or venturing into Salisbury. Often those who attempt to portray our crime articles as inaccurate are connected with area real estate sales or an insular and malfunctioning city hall. Some individuals falsely believe they are saving their hometown. Actually they are doing quite the opposite. Instead of fixing the city’s monumental challenges, they are contributing to the city’s continued demise.
People are leaving Salisbury because they know they are no longer safe here and good jobs are scarce. People don’t come to Salisbury because the city is known throughout the state as a very dangerous place. There is no community in Salisbury that is not suffering from violent and property crime.
