♦ Xavier Marquis Haley, 17, a North Rowan High football star living on Bonanaza Drive in Salisbury, was arrested Monday at 11:37 a.m. at 130 E. Liberty Street on a charge of “robbery- with firearms and other dangerous weapons” (felony) for the alleged January 29th armed robbery of a Papa John’s pizza deliveryman at 205 E. Council Street.
Under a secured $25,000 bond, Haley was released on bail.
It is believed the robbery was caught on security cam video which allegedly assisted in identifying the robbers.

Salisbury Police sources report the armed robbery of a Papa John’s Pizza delivery driver on Sunday night at 205 E. Council Street in Downtown Salisbury. The robbery was reported at 10:37 p.m. The driver Michael Okahara, 30, from Spencer, pulled up his Kia Sedona van at 205 E. Council Street in an office building parking lot when 2 men abruptly loomed out of the dark. One of the men attempted to foist what was alleged to be a bogus $50 bill on the driver. Soon another robber appeared with a semi-automatic pistol drawn. “Turn loose some wings and pizza”. The driver complied, handing over 2 pizzas and a container with 16 chicken wings. The robbers snatched the food and faded into the darkness of a parking lot. The total value of the wings and 2 pizzas was $34.00.
The two robbers were described as Black males wearing black hoodies that obscured their faces.
The wings and pizza were from the Papa John’s 1030 Freedland Drive in Salisbury. No one was injured during the confrontation.
