♦ Seldom does a day go by without vandals striking somewhere in Salisbury.  Up there with street assaults, women getting clobbered, cars getting broken into, burglaries, and a tidal wave of various misdemeanor and felonious crimes, vandalism is a heavy and very expensive hitter in this city.  Windows are broken by gunfire, gas pellets, rocks, cinderblocks, bricks, pianos (seriously), and hammers.  Gang tags and graffiti are all over Downtown and in the city’s major shopping areas. Vehicles get keyed or spray painted and sometimes even get doused with a bucket of paint.  Even high-end apartments and homes get vandalized as well as the city’s multitude of abandoned buildings and houses.  Vandalism, whether imagined artistry, protest, or venting rage against the established order, adds to the high-cost of doing business in Salisbury and to home and car ownership.

Salisbury Police sources report that VUE Coin Laundry, on 813 S. Fulton Street in the besieged Fulton Heights section of Salisbury, was the victim of “vandalism” and “larceny–coin operated device”.  A coin operated device was damaged (Value $200) and $800 in cash was stolen.  The crime was reported to 911 dispatch at 5:46 p.m.  The coin operated device was likely jimmied with a pry tool.

The case is under further investigation.  No suspects or arrests have been announced.
