♦ According to sources in the Rowan County Sheriff’s office Ronald Wayne Freeze, 28, living at 125 Phillips Hollow Road in Mooresville in Western Rowan, was the victim of a shooting Wednesday morning. 911 dispatch received a call about a man being shot near the intersection of Phillips Hollow Road and Bradshaw Road. Rowan County Sheriff’s office deputies and emergency responders poured into Phillips Hollow Road, a private road in rural West Rowan where most residents live in trailer homes.
According to reports, Freeze was shot while smoking a cigarette beside his truck when he heard the sound of footsteps coming up on him. Turning, Freeze noticed man sporting a black hoodie and his face half obscured by a Skull mask. Freeze asked the intruder: “What’s your problem?” The intruder replied: “F you …” and held up his handgun, firing at near pointblank range. Freeze felt immediate impact and pain in his left shoulder. The gunman fled on foot toward Bradshaw Road and Corriher Grange Road and disappeared into the darkness.
Emergency responders transported Freeze to Carolinas Medical Center Northeast where he is receiving treatment. His shoulder wound is said to be non life threatening. Gunshot residue could be seen on his shirt, attesting to the close proximity of the shooter.

The case remains under investigation. The Sheriff’s Office is hunting for a suspect. No motives for the shooting the shooting have been revealed yet.
