♦ We are the organizing committee of SALSIBURY OFF OUR BACKS. We live in Rowan County municipalities and unfortunately our municipalities buy water from Salisbury-Rowan Utilities. Our water bills have become oppressive due to Salisbury’s siphoning funds from Salisbury-Rowan Utilities to keep their fiasco Fibrant on life supports. The Salisbury-Rowan Utilities have failed in the proper maintenance of their water system and many of their asbestos-concrete water mains have fallen into decay. Unsafe conditions exist.
Today we learned our water may contain cancer causing contaminants such bromodichloromethane, chloroform, hexavalent chromium, dibromochloremethane, dichhloroacetic acid, trihalomethanes, and trichholoroacetic acid. In early September we are planning our first organizing meeting to discuss various ways county residents can resist Salisbury and use economic force to bring it to its knees. We will make the announcement in the Rowan Free Press.
