♦ The plunder of Salisbury continues unabated as break-ins, unlawful entries, and pilferages are daily events. The city’s convenience stores are targeted with abandon. If you go daily to such an establishment to buy coffee or pick up your copy of Slammer or the Charlotte Observer, you run the risk of seeing masked desperadoes on their way out, tredding cautiously through the broken glass.
According to Salisbury Police sources the Pop Shoppe at 939 S. Jake Alexander Boulevard was the victim of a “burglary-forcible entry” Friday morning. A burglar(s) broke the glass out in the front door with a blunt object (club, hammer, or rock) and was briefly inside where they stole $500 worth of “other” (product likely). Damage to the front door was assessed at $1,000. The suspect was said to leave the filling station in a white Saturn Ion. The crime was reported to 911 dispatch and officers were soon deployed to the scene. No injuries were reported.
