♦ Another Saturday night murder in Salisbury as the body count keeps rising in the 9th most dangerous city in North Carolina according to two websites who base their rankings on FBI UCR crime statistics.
According to Salisbury Police sources and North Main area residents, a man was shot during an alleged drug deal gone south in the parking lot area of the Three Stars Mini-Mart (formerly known as the M & L Mini Mart) at 1130 N. Main Street near 11th Street. (The drug deal has not not yet been officially confirmed) The shooting occurred sometime around 7:30 p.m. when a man and a woman friend were allegedly making a drug deal with the suspect who pulled a handgun on the man and shot him in the chest while in his vehicle. The shooter fled the area. It is believed the police are aware of the shooter’s identity. Three Stars Mini-Mart is well-equipped with security cameras.
The wounded man, bleeding profusely, was driven by his friend to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center where he expired before he could be transported to a major trauma hospital in Winston-Salem.
This murder case is under intensive investigation.
