♦ According to Rowan County Sheriff’s Office sources a yet to be unidentified man was shot this morning by a homeowner during an attempted vehicle break-in on the 100 block of Longfield Drive in Enochville. The homeowner called 911 dispatch at 5:07 a.m. to report he videoed a man breaking into his vehicle and shot him during the confrontation. There is no word yet of whether the homeowner violated “Castle Doctrine” (the law pertaining to defending home and property) in shooting the man.
Rowan County Sheriff’s deputies and Rowan Emergency Services responded quickly to the scene. The wounded man, a stranger to the shooter, was reported to be alert and talking. His current condition has not been released. He was transported by Rowan EMS to the Carolinas Medical Center Northeast in Concord.
Two other vehicle break-ins occurred on the 300 block of Clearfield Drive not far from where this morning’s shooting occurred.
