It’s the early morning hours in Salisbury and the transient human tide washes over the streets, searching out porch furniture, vehicles with valuables on their seats, lawn ornaments, and anything else that’s not tied down. Sometimes Newspaper machines are spotted near a restaurant entrance or by a street corner…
According to Salisbury Police sources Billy Edward “Ellwood” Boyd, 49, a convicted felon living on the streets of Salisbury, was arrested Saturday at 3:58 a.m. for allegedly vandalizing a Salisbury Post coin operated newspaper machine as well as a Charlotte Observer machine. Both newspaper machines, parked near the doorway of Richard’s BBQ, 522 N. Main Street, are worth $500 each.
Under a secured $1,000, bond, Boyd is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center.
