Press Release
Joel Johnson will be running for Rowan County Clerk of Courts
♦ Joel’s Bio
I was born and raised in Rowan County, and attended both public and private schools here. After returning home from college, I began a career in law enforcement with Salisbury Police Department. I served as a patrol officer and a police canine handler. After several years in these duties, I took the opportunity to serve as a deputy sheriff in Rowan County.
Serving nearly a decade as a full-time law enforcement officer, I met many of our fine citizens. By the very nature of my career I was very active in our court system. I was able to see first-hand how the court system operated, and was able to see just how easily things could be adjusted to make our court system more accessible for our county residents. This spurred my interest in seeking the Clerk of Court position.
I graduated with high honors from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College with an Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice Technology, where I was on the Dean’s List.
Like most folks, I’ve interacted with the court system as a citizen. When our lives meet with circumstances that require handling the estates of our loved ones, or seeking justice for civil wrongs done to us, the process begins in the Clerk of Court’s office. I found this process unduly confusing at times, and it does not have to be this way.
I am asking the voters of Rowan County to cast their votes for me on election day, knowing that I will do everything in my power and within the bounds of the law to make this office more accessible and much easier to navigate.
