According to Salisbury Police and Rowan County Sheriff’s Office sources John Calvin Sifford, III, 30, AKA “John John” and living at 3919 Longwood Drive, SW in Concord, N.C. was arrested Wednesday during a traffic stop near 205 Pearl Street in Salisbury at 2:39 P.M. Sifford, out on bond for an alleged 2nd degree murder, drug, and weapons charges, was charged yesterday with possessing a firearm by a felon (felony) and carrying a concealed weapon (misdemeanor). Under a secured $1 million bond, Sifford is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center.
More recently the Salisbury Police became aware through informants that Sifford was allegedly involved in drug trafficking and weapon offenses.
The Salisbury Police were assisted by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, the ATF, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The August 25th 2017 RFP Article: Update-Salisbury: John Calvin Sifford, III, Recently Indicted Murder Suspect, Captured by Salisbury Police After Officers Shoot Out His Car Tires:
“According to Salisbury Police sources John Calvin Sifford, III, 29, recently indicted by a grand jury on Monday August 21st for an alleged October 2014 murder of Antonio Montreal Chambers, was captured today after Salisbury Police officers Sgt. Mike Colvin and Detective Devin Barkalow shot out the tires on Sifford’s car during a high-speed chase on Bringle Ferry near N. Long Street. The two officers attempted to stop Sifford’s car on Bringle Ferry Road when he hit the accelerator. The officers shot out Sifford’s tires before his car crashed in front of a home on E. Lafayette Street. Sifford attempted to flee on foot before the officers subdued him and handcuffed him. No one was reported injured.
Antonio Chambers was shot to death in the Colonial Village Apartments.

Colvin and Barkalow are on administrative duty. An internal investigation is pending. According to SPD policy officers are not supposed to shoot from a moving vehicle. We hope the review team admonishes and does not punish. The State Bureau of Investigation declined to review today’s incident.
Sifford is now being held in the Rowan County Detention Center. Additional charges are pending.
