♦As we wrote on January the 19th, the Salisbury Post will be sold to Boone Newspapers Inc. (BNI) in early February. We learned this over the last several days from anonymous sources in the Boone organization. An agreement in principle exists with the finalized transaction at some point in early February. The Salisbury Post will be bundled in the sale with the Clemmons Courier and the Davie County Enterprise-Record. The purchaser is Salisbury Newsmedia LLC owned by Boone Newspapers Inc. of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

According to sources within the BNI organization abrupt changes at the management and staff level seldom occur in newly acquired newspapers at the outset. BNI is said to follow a formula of streamlining and profitability.
