♦Today in Raleigh the bill to de-annex the Rowan County Airport successfully passed through the NC Senate Finance Committee. After passing through this committee, the de-annexation bill will head to the full senate where its passage seems likely. A companion de-annexation bill, sponsored by State Rep. Carl Ford is in the house and is expected to soon progress forward. To date the City of Salisbury claims about the airport appears to have fallen on deaf ears due the city’s airport stewardship track record.
Rowan County Commissioner Jim Sides commented: “Another fine day for Rowan County. County Airport de-annexation cleared yet another major hurdle. Senators Andrew Brock and Gene McLaurin have been a great help throughout this process. I can’t thank them enough. Our area is truly blessed to have these two fine gentleman working for the citizens of the county. I look forward to de-annexation getting done.”
