Letter-to-the Editor: Put the Farmer’s Market in the West End Plaza Without a Second Thought

Jonathan Morris, U.S. Army Ranger Ret. and Rowan County Sheep Baron

♦ I’m a farmer and I want to go on record as supporting the Farmer’s Market going to the West End Plaza.  There’s more stability with the county.  The city doesn’t give two toots about the Farmer’s Market.  They proved it by their actions over the last few years.  First the city kicked us off South Main which was a good place where people could actually see you.  Then they sent you packing to the Wrenn House.  Now they want us to go to the cop parking lot where absolutely nobody goes.

Who wants to go to Downtown Salisbury let alone to some out of the way cop parking lot where they’re planning festivals? Pass the crack pipe!

The city would be better off offering the Wilco-Hess gas station on East Innes.  That would be a great spot to be caught up in artificial congestion created by “traffic calming” on East Innes.  The robbers will have slowed down vehicles on East Innes to pick off now.

The county has always been for farmers.  You can count on them.  If the county commissioners say it’ll be placed on the West End Plaza, it will go right there.  And they’ll never mess with it.  On the other hand the city never knows what they are doing.  Look at this goofball Frenchie charrette.  They’re saying it’s going to take several years of planning and design.  14 architects or some such nonsense to come up with proposals.  If Downtown Salisbury Inc. got their hand it, well that would make anyone leery let alone farmers.

Now these chumps are talking up festivals on the cop lot along with Farmer’s Market.  A freakin’ festival plaza over in La La Land. WELL WHOOP-DE-DOO!  Several years of planning and fundraising.  Heck they don’t even know if DSI is going to be keel up or not.  The city of Salisbury can’t even make up their mind about what they going to do about anything and they proved it for the last three years.  Tomorrow they might want to put the Farmer’s Market on 329 S. Main if the health department will let them.

Mike Caskey said on RFP video yesterday he didn’t want the Farmer’s Market going to the West End Plaza to seem like we’re trying to do something to the city again.  Who cares?  The city is trying to put something over on the county every waking hour. They want to rip off the county taxpayers to the max. Salisbury’s downtown gang is cheering the board of education’s Richard Miller on to sue the county taxpayers.   The city is always angling to elect their whizzers to the county commissioners so they can assault the county taxpayers for money to build their “build it and they won’t come” projects in downtown area.  This year they’re backing one half of the Dingbat Sisters and Baby Huey for the commissioners. You know these characters are putting out nonsense that the West End Plaza is going to cost the taxpayers money.  What BS! It’s going to SAVE the taxpayers money.

Look we don’t even know if Salisbury is going to exist in another year let alone three. They’re more worried about shaking the county down for money and calling our commissioners bullies for trying to protect the county from Salisbury’s greased palms..  Anything the city offers has snakes under the rock.

Go to the West End Plaza and don’t think twice.
