CAROLINAS AND NORTHEAST GEORGIA TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY

.A BAND OF LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW WILL REMAIN OVER PORTIONS OF
THE CENTRAL AND NORTHERN MOUNTAINS OF NORTH CAROLINA THROUGH
EARLY THIS EVENING. THIS BAND WILL LIKELY PRODUCE ONE TO TWO
INCHES OF SNOW…WITH ISOLATED AREAS OF THREE INCHES ACROSS THE
RIDGES. SNOWFALL RATES ARE FORECAST TO DECREASE SIGNIFICANTLY
AROUND SUNSET.
PRECIPITATION IS FORECAST TO SPREAD NORTHWARD ACROSS NORTHEAST
GEORGIA AND THE UPSTATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA EARLY TUESDAY MORNING.
AS A MID LEVEL DISTURBANCE ARRIVES DURING THE MID MORNING…LIGHT
PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO SPREAD ACROSS THE NORTH CAROLINA
MOUNTAINS EAST TO THE PIEDMONT. GENERALLY…THE PRECIPITATION
SHOULD FALL AS SNOW OR A MIXTURE OF RAIN AND SNOW ACROSS THE
REGION.
THROUGH MID WEEK…A COLD CANADIAN AIR MASS CENTERED NORTH OF THE
REGION WILL COMBINE WITH MOISTURE ASSOCIATED WITH LOW PRESSURE
DEVELOPING OVER THE NORTHERN GULF OF MEXICO TO PRODUCE A PERIOD
OF WINTRY PRECIPITATION. THE HEAVIEST PRECIPITATION WILL AFFECT
THE WESTERN CAROLINAS AND NORTHEAST GEORGIA WEDNESDAY THROUGH

* TIMING…SNOW WILL LIKELY DEVELOP FROM THE SOUTH TUESDAY NIGHT
AND THEN INCREASE IN INTENSITY WEDNESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN MAY MIX IN ACROSS PIEDMONT SECTIONS
STARTING LATE WEDNESDAY.
