♦After last week’s smashing victories of Sen. Andrew Brock’s bill with virtually no opposition in the N.C. Senate, Rowan County Airport’s de-annexation twin bills are now poised to step up their final assault in the N.C House this Thursday. ”It’s an full-tilt sprint to the finish line,” said County Commission Chairman Jim Sides. ”Whichever airport de-annexation bill gets there the “fastest with the mostest”–Carl Ford’s or Andrew Brock’s. The day will soon be upon us when this great economic tool will be shared by all the county.”
We asked Rep. Harry Warren this afternoon about the progress of the two bills and he told us: “I will be hearing Sen. Brock’s bill in the House Government Committee this Thursday–I’m sure it will pass. I managed to get Rep. Ford’s bill heard by the Finance Sub-Committee on Annexations this Thursday morning (time & location to be determined).
“Sen. Brock’s bill will advance to the Finance Committee when it passes the Government Committee,” said Rep Harry Warren, ”But I am trying to have the referral to Finance cancelled since it is identical to Rep. Ford’s bill. That’s assuming Rep. Ford can successfully satisfy the Sub-Committee that his bill meets the criteria and passes in the Finance Committee. If the Finance referral is cancelled, then Sen. Brock’s bill will advance to the House Floor for a vote and if passed, it will go to the Governor.”
