♦This morning Airport De-annexation Bill 269/260 smashed out of the House Finance Sub-Committee with a favorable 5-o vote including 3 Republicans and 2 Democrats. It now moves to the full Finance Committee where it will be heard sometime within the next week or two. If it passes in the House Finance Committee, which it is expected to do by Raleigh observers, the bill will go to the House floor for a vote. Then on to Governor.
According to Rowan County Commission Chairman Jim Sides: “This was a momentous hurdle. Breaking out of this sub-committee this morning was really huge in the forward progress of our County Airport de-annexation. Getting out of this sub-committee was everyone’s largest concern. Now it’s on to the full Finance Committee where it will be heard. I’m breathing a lot easier now.”
“Looking better,” said Rep. Carl Ford. “Not a done deal yet–but on the way.”
