Karen Bevin, Charlotte, NC
♦ Last weekend the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police reported 3 female joggers were attacked by a man on a part of the Carolina Thread Trail in Charlotte. This attack took place along the trail on Fairview Rd. Apparently the women were approached by a man on a bicycle who ordered them to turn around and run in the opposite direction before he punched them. They sustained minor injuries.
Since the assault, the police stepped up patrols in the area.
Assaults and robberies are common to trails throughout North Carolina and across United States. They illustrate the need for trails to be watched by law enforcement. These trails attract unsavory elements and precautions need to be in place. Counties need to think of safeguards and liability when considering the expenses of any trails.
