♦ The First Bank parking lot, near Church and Innes, will have its entrances blocked later in March for public parking. The parking lot, save for the possibility of the owner Maxwell Chambers Trust may permit its use on Sunday mornings and during area special events, was a lot of choice for many living and working within a few blocks. With First Bank closing at the end of March, the loss of the First Bank parking lot will be a major loss for downtown visitors and shoppers trying to find parking. Concerns about area vandalism and liability are motives for the lot’s closing. Meanwhile downtown Salisbury is in desperate need of parking. Why not convert 329 S. Main and the Empire Hotel to parking?
