♦ When I first posed this question I was not sure anyone would answer but after a week and 123 responses I will tell you I was a little surprised. As an 8th grade student back in the sixties, I was taught that the civics of our Government is a Representative Republic. It doesn’t matter if it is at the Federal, Local or State level and yet 17% of you think everything should be decided through direct referendum. A few even think the city of Salisbury should rule the whole of Rowan County. The good news is 73% understand how our Government works. One of the things we as citizens need to do is vet our candidates, ask them questions. Many of my fellow candidates say we need a change in the county. Please ask why. So far, they talk about change but they lay all the blame on the County. Here are a few questions:
- Our Schools are ranked in the bottom 20% in the state the last 10 years, yet the BOE has had the same people for the last 12-20 years. Why no improvement?
- The City of Salisbury has maintained the same leadership for the past 12-20 years. Is Salisbury is better or worse?
Working together for the good of the entire county is my goal. Long term planning is the Key.
I have posted some of my thoughts and ideas that I believe will help all of us living and working in Rowan County. Please review my web site Joe4Rowan.com or call with any questions you have 704-310-6422.
