♦ According to police sources Georgia Winn Rhodes, 32, a homeless woman was found sleeping near the road on the 600 block of Mocksville Avenue in the Vicinity of the Novant Medical Center in Salisbury. N.C. When officer F.D. West attempted to detain her under suspicion of intoxication, Ms. Rhodes allegedly bit the officer and kicked him in the shins. Ms. Rhodes was charged with resist, delay, and obstruct of an officer and assault on an officer, both misdemeanors. The woman was issued a $1,500 secured bond and was later released from the Rowan County Detention Center.
In 2000 Ms. Rhodes was convicted of misdemeanor resisting arrest.
