Joe Coladarci, Candidate for County Commissioner, High Rock Lake, N.C.
♦ I attended the Monday afternoon meeting of the County Commissioners and was surprised to see half a dozen folks sporting red berets, both ladies and three young men. So I asked a very smug lady, “Why red berets?” Her answer was, “I like red.”
I then noticed that Judy, a fellow candidate in the Republican primary, was sporting very similar color hat. While hers didn’t come from the same dollar bin, it was red and beret-like.
I have a question for Judy, “Are you in solidarity with the Red Beret Brigade? “
I also noticed a group of concerned citizens have purchased a rather large media buy with the Post on Sunday and Monday. It also featured the symbol of a red beret, as well as a line drawing of Che Guevara, a prominent figure from the 60’s and close friend of Fidel Castro (the former Communist leader of Cuba). Many of our young people have sported tee shirts and other clothing with Che’s likeness on it. For the past 10 years, the left has tried to soften the image of historical leaders like Castro and Che by making clothes that our young people wear to be cool. I can only fault our education system for not sharing the truth with our children. When this man Che was alive, he was one of the most brutal leaders the left had in the southern hemisphere. It is said that Castro sent Che to South America in fear of his own life. Che was a sadistic killer.
There is no excuse of ignorance for either the smug lady who I asked or Judy, a fellow Republican. They should be fully aware of these historical facts; they are both old enough to have lived it.
“La Resistance”, The red beret-wearing PAC is asking people to subvert our election process by voting in the Republican primary. The way the laws are presently written they have a right to exercise their opinions at the polls. I, for one, say go forward.
But I also have the right to expose their actions to those I can reach. I will also hold accountable those in my party who associate with this group.
These folks are not Republicans. They hold none of our values. They are Leftists, or at best frustrated Democrats’ who are unhappy that they live in a county were they have no voice other than the City Council of Salisbury and the old guard on the present County School Board. Hopefully, with this next November election, this too will change.
Let me state for the record that I am a conservative Republican and an active member of a civic group known as the Rowan County Tea Party Patriots.
